a hop farmer by conviction. And with visions.
Johann Brenner is already the 13th generation to have taken over the farm. His mission and his passion is to continue the heritage of the Bermer farm, the Brenner family and this region – and to develop it further with new ideas. On the one hand, this includes the awareness of preserving the values of a cultural landscape that is over 1,000 years old. On the other hand, as a modern entrepreneur, you always have to think outside the box and be open to new, sustainable ideas. And it is precisely this philosophy that is lived out every day at Johann Brenner. The high quality of the hops is the result of Johann Brenner’s holistic
way of working. The love of the homeland gives rise to the joy of creating a joint work of the highest quality as a team. Here, cooperation is practised at eye level. The international network of the Hop Centre forms the basis for the stable economic growth and for the special flair of this farm. One of the secrets of success is the lively exchange with trainees and employees from a wide range of countries. Because enthusiasm for high-quality hops knows no borders.
From the Harz to the Hallertau.
On her mother’s side, her roots lie in the idyllic village of Förste at the foot of the Harz Mountains. Born and raised in Bavaria, the trained teacher has worked her way into the business continuously and with great commitment since 2012. As a career changer, she took on more and more tasks over the years. Together with her husband Johann Brenner, she now manages the farm and organises important processes. Together they keep the business running. What fascinates you about your work at the Brenner Farm? “I am simply thrilled by the diversity of hops. Hop season has a very special charm that inspires everyone here.”
For optimal processing of the sensitive hop bines, we use professional break-off equipment in the field, state-of-the-art picking machine technology and an innovative cone cleaning machine in the hop harvesting centre. Likewise a technically sophisticated drying system supported by an energy-efficient wood chip heating system. We built this hop harvesting centre in the Hallertau region back in 2009 and it is one of the most modern hop facilities in the world. There we offer the latest technology on 2,100 m² and 13 metres high.
